God designed us to make a difference in this world and to make an impact with our lives. There’s only one way to do that…by serving others. We can’t serve God without serving others. That’s why Jesus said, “If you want to be great, learn to be the servant of all.” Serving others through the church is what the PEACE Plan is all about, and its reason for being:
Ordinary people empowered by God’s Spirit, doing what Jesus did, together, wherever they are.”
The vision of the PEACE PLAN is to mobilize Christians around the world to address five GIANT PROBLEMS:
- Spiritual Emptiness
- Self-Serving Leadership
- Poverty
- Disease
- Illiteracy
The church was designed by God to take the lead in this effort. It has the world's largest distribution network, the most people ready and to serve, and the greatest motivation of all—the LOVE of Jesus Christ.
Since responding to these five global giants through the local church is what Jesus says Christians must do, that’s where the PEACE Plan focuses. We have committed ourselves to fulfilling these five expressions of God’s love:
- Promote Reconciliation
- Equip Servant leaders
- Assist The Poor
- Care For The Sick
-
Educate The Illiterate
The PEACE COALITION is a growing network of churches and individuals that will eventually become a network of hundreds of thousands of churches and millions of Christians working together—in concert with governments, businesses and charitable organizations--to address the world's five GIANT PROBLEMS.
We see a future where The PEACE Plan:
- Shows the world God's love and results in millions of people making a commitment to Jesus . . . reconciling man to God and to one another
- Creates transformative training, tools, resources, and a web-based, interactive support network to churches everywhere that led to doing God's work in those areas of great need
- Develops a collaborative network of networks to connect churches, individuals, governments, businesses, and charitable organizations to report, celebrate and share all the information necessary for the successful execution of PEACE PLAN projects
- Helps churches generate new, incremental financial support and develop innovative ways to deploy those resources--moving beyond mere activities to dynamic transformation—for the will of God through a healthier local church
PEACE is connecting believers door-to-door and around the world as people work to fulfill the Great Commandment (love the Lord God with all your heart, mind and soul; and love your neighbor as yourself) and the Great Commission (Go into the world and spread Jesus’ message).
PEACE initiatives are leading changes in communities deeply in need through programs and projects that can be reproduced by Christians in the local community, which can then survive after those giving aid are gone.
The PEACE Plan is taking on those five global evils by following Jesus Christ’s example, with his power and leading. PEACE Teams specialize in meeting needs and healing the hurts of people, while at the same time sharing a message that offers practical benefits for their lives and expressing God’s good news.
PEACE is built on a grassroots church-to-church foundation. One church connects with another church and that church connects with another…and on it goes, growing exponentially. Every church becomes a sending and receiving church. It’s a people-to-people movement, designed to mobilize average church members to do normal tasks that can, collectively, change the world!
The greatest need of the 21st century is to release the pent-up and latent power of the average believer in local churches around the world.
We live in a time of unparalleled crisis…and unparalleled opportunity for the church. The world is looking for hope. It’s time for the church to be the church, because the world is longing for peace. It’s longing for a peace far greater that the simple elimination of conflict. It’s craving something much greater, much deeper, and far more eternal in nature.
Indeed, it’s a craving for a peace that begins with a permanent surrender of our souls. This kind of peace must exist in the individual before it can happen in the world. That is the ultimate message of the PEACE Plan. It is Christ’s message of love, forgiveness, hope and eternal life.
WHY NOW? WHY PEACE? Because the Bible says…
“Much is required from those to whom much is given, for their responsibility is greater.” (Luke 12:48)
One day each one of us will stand before God and God will ask, “What did you do with all the things I gave you?” We will be held responsible.
- We’ve been given God’s authority
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations.”
The Bible tells us that history is moving toward a grand climax. Like a great storywriter, God was there in the beginning and he knows how it’s all going to end.
God’s plan and purpose is that everybody would hear the good news of mankind’s salvation through his son, Jesus Christ. He wants everyone to know that he loves us, and that he has a purpose for our lives. He has forgiven us, and we now have an eternal home in heaven—if we will only choose to accept it.
“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14)
No one knows when the world will end, but we can know it won’t happen until the last person has been contacted and has heard God’s good news and responded.
TO MAKE A LASTING DIFFERENCE, WE MUST SERVE OTHERS When we serve others, we’re serving God. That’s why Jesus said, “If you want to be great, learn to be the servant of all.” (Mark 10:43)
That’s the heart of PEACE…living as Christ while we are here on earth and bringing his peace—a peace that passes all understanding and gives us the assurance of a home in heaven—into the lives of all who will hear his good news and choose to love him in return.
GOD HAS MADE US THESE PROMISES:
- As we serve others, we ourselves are blessed.
God told Abraham in Genesis 12, “I will bless you and you will be a blessing to others.” God blesses us so that we can bless other people.
- When we are a blessing to others, God takes care of our needs.
“Jesus said to them, ‘I can guarantee this truth: Anyone who gave up his home, wife, brothers, parents, or children because of the kingdom of God will certainly receive many times as much in this life and will receive eternal life in the world to come.’” (Luke 18:29-30)
- The more we bless others, the more God blesses us.
“Give away your life; you'll find life given back, but not merely given back—given back with bonus and blessing. Giving, not getting, is the way. Generosity begets generosity." (Luke 6:38)
- The more we’re blessed by God, the more He expects us to help others.
Jesus said it this way in Luke 12:48, “Much is required from those to whom much is given. For their responsibility is greater.”
God designed each one of us to make a difference and to use the life we’re given to make an impact that will be felt in our generation— and by all generations to come.
HOW DO WE DO PEACE?
- Jesus’ ministry is our model for the PEACE Plan
PEACE is partnering with God and being his hands and feet in the world. PEACE is about you and every member of your church, community, or group doing just what Jesus did. He is our model. Jesus didn’t come for the wealthy, the powerful, or the influential—he came for all people. That’s who The PEACE Plan is for—ordinary, average people, who are making a difference in our world.
- We Do the PEACE plan together
The PEACE Plan is not about “qualified” people. God is looking for willing people. When God tells us to do something, He will always give us the ability and the power to do it. The PEACE Plan is committed to moving our thinking from “they” can do it, to “we” can do it by working together, with and through local churches around the world.
THE RESULT: The PEACE PLAN OFFERS HOPE
The PEACE Plan will mobilize ONE BILLION people around the world in an outreach that addresses the five global giants of our day. Does that sound a bit audacious? Sure. But the PEACE Plan provides a way to share God’s hope, a hope that will not disappoint. The Bible reveals that we can freely offer God's peace to those who've lost all hope. We do this as we follow the example of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace.
