هل سيعود أطفالك فجأة إلى المنزل لمدة أسبوعين إلى ثلاثة أسابيع (أو أكثر)؟ كانت عائلتنا تدرس في المنزل لمدة 8 سنوات (عن قصد!) لذلك جمعت بعض المعلومات والموارد. يسعدني أن أجيب على الأسئلة. 

1. لا يستغرق الأمر كل اليوم للقيام “بالدروس” – إذا كانت مدرستك ترسل العمل إلى المنزل ، فربما تفاجأ أنه يمكنك الانتهاء منه في غضون ساعات قليلة.  الكثير من اليوم الدراسي يقضى  في الانتقال من مكان الى مكان.

2. الاستراحات تساعد الأطفال على العمل بشكل أفضل. اعتمادًا على العمر ، قمنا بكل شيء من 15 دقيقة عمل: استراحة 30 دقيقة (عمر ابتدائي) إلى 60 دقيقة عمل: استراحة 15 دقيقة (مدرسة ثانوية). اضبط الساعة وأعط تحذيرات لمدة 10 و 5 دقائق حول التحولات من الراحة الى العمل وبالعكس حتى يسهل على الجميع. إذا كنت تجد أنه سيكون من الصعب جدًا إبعاد أطفالك بعيدًا عن الكمبيوتر / ايباد / الهاتف / التليفزيون، فقم بذلك بجدية وابعد هذه الاشياء حتى ينتهي كل العمل – لا يزال بإمكانهم الاستمتاع بالكثير من المرح مع  العاب اخرى في وقت الاستراحة، وما إلى ذلك.

3. ساعد أطفالك على التخلص من الطاقة الإضافية بدلاً من الضغط عليهم! أرسلهم للخارج عندما يكون ذلك ممكنًا لحرق الطاقة. من الآمن اللعب في الفناء أو ركوب الدراجة أو التنزه – لن يكون الفيروس في تلك المناطق. كان التنزه  الأم / الابن جزءًا مفضلاً من سنواتنا الأولى. في الأيام الممطرة ، كنت أقول لابني “اركض إلى غرفتك وارجع وسأحدد سرعتك على هاتفي!” سنستمر في محاولة “تحسين وقته” حتى كان يلهث ويستعد للعودة إلى العمل.

4. يحتاج الأطفال إلى كميات سخيفة من الوجبات الخفيفة. عندما كان ابني في المرحلة الابتدائية ، شعرت وكأنني آلة للوجبات الخفيفة البشرية طوال اليوم. الحفاظ على التغذية والماء لاعطاء أقصى قدر من الكفاءة والحد الأدنى من الشكاوى.

5. التحلي بالصبر مع نفسك وأطفالك خلال هذا الوقت! إنها جديدة لكم جميعاً. كن إيجابيًا وتوقف عن فعل أي شيء يخلق صراعًا غير معقول. تخلص من الدروس المجهدة. علاقتك مع طفلك لا تستحق المخاطرة فقط لإنجاز العمل المدرسي. لن يتخلفوا. سيتخرجون وسيحصلون على عمل في يوم من الأيام. ابذل قصارى جهدك لتظل هادئًا وتتذكر أنك بحاجة إلى فترات راحة أيضًا!

6. لن يكون منزلك على مستوى الترتيب الذي اعتدت عليه ، ولا بأس بذلك. علم أطفالك القيام بغسيل الملابس والأطباق ، وكيفية تحضير وجباتهم الخفيفة ، وكيفية رعاية الحيوانات الأليفة ، وما إلى ذلك. تحدث عن العيش في المجتمع وكيف أنه من المهم أن يساهم الجميع. في منزلنا نسمي هذه الأشياء مازحين “المهارات الحياتية” – طلبت من ابني البالغ من العمر 17 عامًا أن يذهب الى البقالة أمس وكان مثل “المهارات الحياتية!” المهارة الحياتية مهمة حقًا ويمكن أن تكون طريقة ممتعة لتقسيم اليوم.

7. يجب على الشركاء / الآباء الكبار مناقشة كيفية تقسيم المسؤوليات خلال هذه الفترة ، ومناقشة كيف ستبقى صبورًا ومتحمسًا مع بعضكما البعض. في منزلنا ، بما أنني مدرس رياضيات أقوم بتدريس الرياضيات. زوجي يحب الطهي ، وأنا لا أعلم ، لذلك فهو يعلم الطبخ. أنا أعتني بالصباح بالتعليم في المنزل وبعد الظهر المبكر وأعمل في وقت متأخر بعد الظهر والمساء حتى يقوم زوجي بتنظيف المطبخ وإعداد العشاء عندما يعود إلى المنزل من وظيفته اليومية. عندما يكون هناك حاجة للقيام بشيء ما ، فإن الشخص الأكثر قدرة أو الأكثر توافقاً يعتني به ، بغض النظر عمن “يفترض” القيام بذلك.

8. تذكر هذا الوقت مع أطفالك هدية! حاول الاستمتاع بها. قم بالاستمتاع بالقراءة ، وشاهد  يوتيوب التعليمي أثناء تناول وجبة خفيفة على الأريكة ، واخرج إلى الحديقة وتحقق من اي شيء صغير يحتاج الى تصليح – فهذه الأشياء البسيطة مليئة بالتعلم والأوقات الرائعة التي ستتذكرها أنت وأطفالك دائمًا.

SciShow https://www.youtube.com/user/scishow – Awesome for older elementary through adult. So many amazing topics have been covered. Check out their playlists, search for a topic, or just peruse the weirdness.

Crash Course https://www.youtube.com/user/crashcourse/playlists – Mostly high-school level but we used them even in upper elementary and middle school. Almost everything you could want (except math). This is probably our favorite channel.

Extra Credits https://www.youtube.com/user/ExtraCreditz – History topics not typically covered in history textbooks. Plus mythology, gaming, sci-fi, and politics. High quality, super engaging.

TED-Ed https://ed.ted.com/ – (As in TED Talks.) These videos and lesson plans are geared to K-12 learners. So many amazing topics. You can search and sort by level and topic.

Khan Academy https://www.khanacademy.org/ – Free tool includes videos, documents, and lessons. GREAT FOR MATH. You can go by grade or topic, K-12 and beyond.

Great Big Story https://www.greatbigstory.com/ – Micro-documentaries and films from around the globe. Very high-quality and engaging. Available on YouTube as well.
